Down the Thames, up the Medway, aboard steamer VIC96:
« on: September 24, 2015, 09:12:03 PM »
I'm feeling very privileged this week, having spent Sunday night and Monday aboard the restored 1945-built Admiralty victualling steam-powered ship, VIC96. On Monday, we sailed downstream from Wapping to just off Southend, and then upstream on the Medway to VIC96's her home berth at Chatham.

As usual, I'm making a video series about the trip, and the first part is now online on this site's video page: Getting up steam - http://www.shipspotting.com/videos/video.php?vid=12064

More soon!

The 3rd part of Shipping TV's unique video footage filmed aboard 70 year-old steamship VIC96, sailing down the Thames and up the River Medway.

This time we steam from the Queen Elizabeth bridge at Dartford to the entrance to the Medway, passing Tilbury and London Gateway, and creeping past the wreck of Liberty ship Richard Montgomery, still said to contain around 1,400 tons of high explosive from WW2!

The 4th and final part of Shipping TV's unique video footage filmed aboard 70 year-old steamship VIC96, returning home after a weekend on display in London.

This time we steam up the Medway, and are aboard as this little ship enters the lock and finally comes alongside her permanent berth.
