Hi Nigel,
I just spent a long time listing 54 Del Monte ships with their service dates for that company. When I tried to send it it was wiped out because I had used too much time. Very sorry about that & will try to find another way to get it to you when I return to the UK for a short spell in November.

Noted you are from Dover, do you know Capt. Don McMurdo?

Tony

Hi Nigel,

Present fleet:

ANDALUCIA CARRIER
CORDOBA CARRIER
GRANADA CARRIER
SEVILLA CARRIER
TOLEDO CARRIER
ARACENA CARRIER
LUCENA CARRIER
RONDA CARRIER
MARBELLA CARRIER
MURCIA CARRIER
HORNBAY
HORNCAP
HORNCLIFF

ALCANTARA CARRIER & GIRALDA CARRIER were sold to far east byuers early this year.I don't know if they have been replaced with either chartered or purchased ships.

They have 8 reefers on hire, 4 of which I assume are:
STAR CARE
STAR LEADER
STAR ENDEAVOUR
STAR PRIDE

I have no info on the other 4 ships.

I will get the historical list to you sometime but it only covers owned vessels. I t is almost impossible to find info on chartered ships.

Don McMurdo is my brother in law.

Best regards,
Tony

Ships employed as follows:
ANDALUCIA, CORDOBA, GRANADA, TOLEDO all trading far east mainly Philippines/Japan.
ARACENA was trading fareast now central/south America/USEC.
LUCENA was trading central/south America/USEC now on voyage Caribbean/Iran.
RONDA, STAR ENDEAVOUR 1, STAR LEADER, STAR PRIDE all trading central/south America/USEC
MARBELLA, MURCIA, HORNBAY, HORNCAP, HORNCLIFF all trading central/south america/USWC
STAR CARE has been trading central/south America/USEC & USWC.

I read somewhere that they might have containerised their North European services. If they have not we just need to find out which which ships they are using for Portsmouth etc., & we will know the complete fleet. It will not be any of the other STAR ships as they are all fixed to Fyffes.

I live in Southsea (the slightly nicer bit of Portsmouth,), and regularly observe the "Star xxxx" vessels entering and leaving.  I'll check through my records/photos later and report back as to which of the Seatrade vessels are carrying Del Monte branding if it'd be of use.

I'd apprreciate a copy of the fleet list if that'd be ok.

Thanks,

Matt. Southsea UK

Hello Tony
I read your posting and so I can understand you indicate that the vast majority of these ships would come to South America , here in Chile and we are shortly to start the season fresh fruit exports , would be great , great that all these ships come Valparaiso , twelve ships that appear to South America and the east and west coast of USA, I could only shoot 2 of these ships but long ago .
I have a collection of photos of ships reefer quite large and many ships over the years I am a member in this page .
Well I have to wait for good news are that these ships traveling to the port to take good photographs .
Thank you for your information
Rgds from Valparaiso

Hi Juan Carlos,

I have been lucky enough to sail through the Magellan Strait & the Patagonian Channels almost as far as Puerto Montt but have never been able to set foot in your beautiful country. I also spent one season looking after Cool Carriers Chilean fruit imports at Philadelphia. I don't know which ships will be involved in the upcoming fruit season but I beleive that Cool Carriers will be one company together with Seatrade, Star, Baltic & Triton. I wish you all the good luck with your phtography over the next few months.

For what its worth, the 4 currently on the Portsmouth - Caribbean run are Star Standard, Star Stratos, Star Prima and Star Best - arriving from Antwerp on Thursday and Saturday and returning the following day invariably to Santa Marta.  Main cargo fruit, but occasionally cocaine ! I believe running for Fyffes.  But I can rarely catch them as Portsmouth QHM do not list the reefer arrivals or departures.

Since 2012 I have caught Star Endeavour I, Star Leader and Star Pride in Del Monte colours but they are not currently calling at Portsmouth

cheers

Allan

Hello Toni
Thank you for your prompt reply .. I caught my attention that these ships come to Chile because they generally are the same every season and if you will realize and I photographed many times , so this news is especially for my.
According to forecasts indicate that the fruit season , which officially begins in December 2015 and ends in April 2016, has been very helpful for exports.
Thank you again
Kings regards
Juan Carlos..
