What ship registration spotting books are out there?

Hi. Can any of you help in sharing any good ship registraion/spotters books are out there. I currently have the Ian allen 16th edition of ocean ships which is really good and it is great for keeping a record of all the ships I see. Well.....not all. ...it only has the bigger ships in. Is there any books which show all types of ship i.e. smaller oil,chemical, general cargo etc.Even miscellaneous ones as in tugs, bouy laying vessels etc.

Check out ST Publications website....it's as close to the old Ian Allen books as you'll get.

The companion book to 'Ocean Ships' was 'Coastal Ships and Ferries' compiled by David Hornsby also published by Ian Allan.  Although published about five years ago, it may still be of interest to you but as the title indicates, tugs and miscellaneous craft were not included.

Make sure to make a readible shot of the IMO number and just typing that into Google will give you most of the information you are looking for. You can also use the IMO for storing your files, in combination with the shipname, but that would be your own preference.

There is "Know your Ships" Which has a list of all the companies and the ships owned by those companies that operate on the Great Lakes. Tugs, cargo vessels, ferries, etc. It also has a list of all the foreign ships that transit the Great Lakes/ Seaway. They are currently on their almost 50th edition. It it very helpful. Not sure if this is what you are looking for but it is something. You can order it on boatnerd.com.
