m/v Adriatica Queen - what happened between 2012 and 2014?
« on: December 15, 2014, 08:09:08 PM »
I have tried to track the history of former Dana Regina (built in 1974 in Denmark, later Nord Estonia, Thor Heyerdahl and Vana Tallinn). I read from an Italian online magazine Ship2Shore that the ship began to operate between Bari and Durrės in late July 2012, but as far as I know she was laid up later the same year. This spring she was beached in Aliaga in Turkey.

Does any of you happen to know if the ship was in traffic between autumn 2012 and spring 2014 or if she was laid up in Durrės for the whole time?

Hm, according to Fakta om Fartyg (http://www.faktaomfartyg.se/dana_regina_1974.htm) she operated between Bari and Durres from November 2011 and was laid-up in late July 2012 at Durres. Without re-entering service she was sold in December 2013 to Allferries SA which sold her for scrap to Aliaga in April 2014...

Don't know who is right as what you read at Ship2Shore is differing from the info at Fakta om Fartyg...

Cheers,
Jens

I also visited Fakta om Fartyg, but according to a Finnish website Matkustajalaivat.com, she did operate after the summer of 2012. Would be interesting to know if someone had seen her between 2012 and 2014...

2011 11. Insatt mellan Bari - Durres.

2012 07 30. Upplagd i Durres, Albanien.

I checked Fakta om Fartyg again. According to it Adriatica Queen would have operated between Bari and Durrės until the end of July 2012. This is not true as there are pictures here at Shipspotting showing that she was laid up at a shipyard in Montenegro in May and June 2012. So this is why I would rather trust Ship2Shore.

ADRIATICA QUEEN seems to have been on the Durres-Bari route from 13/8/2011 until her arrival at Durres 13/4/2012, where she initially laid up.

7/5 sailed Durres for Bijela, arriving same day, remaining there until 15/7.

Then she returned to Durres-Bari until about the end of July.
