Hi all.

For those interested.

Marine Traffic is displaying vessels including Naval Ships from various countries involved in the search for missing Malaysian Airlines flight MH 370 in the Indian Ocean off the Western Australian coast.

This area of ocean is usually out of range for plotting vessels on the site. I noticed the activity in this area about 24hrs ago and has been constant since.

Regards

Peter

Thank you Peter and Nick

To save me, and others, repeating the search efforts of all those military assets, could you supply co-ordinates or other link to the location you have found.

Well done!
Clyde

G'day Clyde (and others),

If you open Marine Traffic and check the Indian Ocean off the north west coast, approx. abeam Exmouth, the search area is clearly outlined and vessels visible.

Cheers,
tropic

Marine Traffic are sourcing this info via Orbcom's satellite service.
It seems odd that most of the vessels are in the "old" search box, about 280 miles to the West. Only the Australian Ocean Shield is at the new search area and HMS Echo seems to be heading toward it oo.

G'day Kelvin,

According to the media releases here, they are keeping the other vessels at a distance, to help the OCEAN SHIELD's equipment hear the black box "pulses", without all the din from the other ship's machinery, etc.

Cheers,
tropic

Got it Tropic.  Thank you

Exmouth does not show on Marine Traffic for me.  It is close to the top of the higher of two most western points of the coast above Perth.  This will help http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exmouth,_Western_Australia

I kept on using the + and - and left and right arrows until the two purple marked areas showed up.
