French fishing boat run aground near The Lizard
« on: August 29, 2013, 01:45:11 PM »
A small French fishing boat is reported to be leaking small quantities of light oil to the east of The Lizard.
It looks as if the Isle of Scilly lifeboat (17-11) is now at the scene

That's the one. The Lizard lifeboat responded and removed the uninjured crew members, it then returned to station. The St Mary's lifeboat left the Scillies but I'm not certain it was in response to the grounding as it carried on to Plymouth. Later in the evening the Cornwall Fishery Patrol vessel Saint Piran was on scene.
They are going to try to refloat the Scuderia on the high tide.

Looking at the vessels track (the last two hours before grounding 325degress to 328 degrees at nearly 9 knots and that speed at bottoming probably on 'Auto pilot') from her home port of Roscoff it does look like another case of Watchkeeper 'nodding off'

I saw their track on AIS and did wonder where they were heading.
MTS Viking is on scene, possibly taking the fuel off.

The 'Scuderia' was successfully refloated today with the assistance of the small tug
'MTS Vulcan2' . . It is thought that the 'Scuderia' will be towed to Falmouth for repair,

a good result for MTS with MTS's Grey Bear, Viking, Pathfinder and Vulcan 2 all involved.
