Hello,

     Has anyone got any information on this ship,

     All i can find is from Febuary 2013 saying she is drifting towards Europe/Ireland and that she may have also have Sunk,

     For anyone not knowing about the ship, briefly she broke two tows on her way to a breakers and was left to drift East bound Across the Atlantic, i find this absolutely terrible and dangerous that this can happen in todays world,

          Yes thanks for that but i had already read it and the last post on April 17th by Kair may have been funny to some but not very helpful i'm afraid but there you go,

Well, the ship has finally sunk. Not surprising at all. I am astonished how long it remained afloat in these conditions. The "Kai Xin" did not take that Long, but nobody saw it...

Some weeks ago a german sub U33 was on the way across the Atlantic Ocean to join NATO ships for an exercise at the US-East coast. Maybe the Orlava was a target for the sub, just for training?

I find it a bit strange that no known attempt to salvage her has been made. After all, somebody paid money to scrap her and I assume they would wnat to get what they paid for. Or are they hoping for a full refund?

There appear to have been no reports of her continued existence for at least 2 months.  The cost of looking for her, even if she were still floating, securing her, towing to a scrapyard, insurance, pre-arrival survey etc etc probably far exceeds the scrap value.  Doubt whether the owners could raise that anyway.

Guess all shipspotters have said goodbye to LYUBOV ORLOVA by now. Still wonder if someone out there has any word of any sighting of any related junk or pieces of her when she sunk, which i will state has taken place. "BOB".

MV Lyubov Orlova (built as Lyubovy Orlova) is a 1976 Yugoslavia-built ice-strengthened Mariya Yermolova class cruise ship. Once known for Antarctic cruises, the ship made headlines after she was abandoned dockside in St. John's, Newfoundland and then became a floating derelict in the North Atlantic Ocean in 2013.

The derelict Russian cruise ship the Lyubov Orlova, which captured people's imaginations after snapping her tow line and drifting aimlessly in the North Atlantic, may have finally sunk. The Coast Guard says there's been no confirmed sightings of the little ship for over two months. Reports indicated that a sensor on board the ship, that sounds when it comes into contact with water, was picked up earlier this year. The Orlova snapped a tow line and drifted into the North Atlantic after a failed attempt early in the new year to tow her to the Dominican Republic for scrap.

Wouldn't this be an example of a ship being-under-tow to the Breakers and happens to break her lines to keep some sort of AIS operating onboard so that the hulk can be sourced by the marine authorities even in the biggest oceans , then it would be a guessing game and a potential danger.
