FINNLADY to Helsinki 04.01.-06.01.2013
« on: January 26, 2013, 08:12:32 AM »
I have been to Helsinki on a so-called "Minicruise" and have created a photoalbum with a selection of photos taken.

Enjoy, I can recommend visiting Helsinki especially during this time of the year  ;D

I enjoyed looking through those, especially as I am thinking of doing a similar trip this year (funds permitting - none of my plans have worked out the past few years...!  ::) ).

A nice set of photos.  :)

I think, you can easily make it working out: You take a ferry to Rotterdam, take the train to Lübeck, stay a few days there, or stay at Travemünde, book Finnlikes Travemünde-Helsinki v.v. - you can also stay a few days longer and go back then. It is easy to do by public transport/train. If you plan longer, I read the train connections to St. Petersburg are good from Helsinki, you need to get a visa first hand and then you can do that, as well. Not sure if its possible as a day trip, checking schedules :-) Of course to make it a bit special a bit of ice on the sea is always welcome  :P Plus, during that time of the year, neither the ferry nor the city is full with tourists.

Thanks Cornelia. :)

I need to work out the cheapest way of doing it. I am thinking of going via Harwich to Hook of Holland (there is a 'Dutch Flyer' deal one can get with Stena Line) and going on from there, via Rotterdam, Amsterdam or Utrecht, up to Hamburg then Travemünde. But, things and plans change...most of mine have not worked out recently!

St. Petersburg is tempting, I have never been to Russia and would love to go. :)

By the way, what happened to your containerships.ch website?
