Does anyone know about the new sailing schedule for the "Rangatira"?
She is in port at Timaru at the moment and sails for Wanganui. On her next trip back from the Chathams she sails from Timaru to Wellington.

The Ukrainian fishing vessel FV Mainstream IMO 8729676, chartered by Independent Fisheries, was today officially reflagged, bringing it under New Zealand labour, and health and safety laws.
More chartered fishing vessels are to be reflagged in the future.

MSC have now advised that the White Sea will be replaced by the Messologi which has been in layup.

With her length of 294.118 meters, she would become the longest container ship to visit NZ, beating the Maersk Detroit by .018 of a meter.

With the recent decision by MAERSK to leave the OVSA (Oceania Vessel Sharing Agreement )
Hamburg Sud will be contributing an additional vessel to the PSW sling in
order to ensure the current fixed day weekly frequency of their service to West Coast North
America.

The JPO Scorpius v.326 N will be replaced by Cap Corrientes v.326 N in Sydney for the planned northbound voyage from Australia and NZ to West Coast North America.

I can't find a listing for this vessel so may be a renaming.

Maersk's charter JPO Scorpius will sail from Sydney to Nelson and Tauranga to load for Tanjung Pelepas.

Does that mean Maersk have pulled out of the service and are starting their own service,as it used to be. Or are they just packing their bags and going home.

Hi Mike
From their schedule it looks like they may be pulling out of the WCNA run and leaving it to Hamburg Sud.

Mike

Maersk will offer WCNA ports over Tanjung Pelepas in future as apparently infighting between the VSA lines with too bigger ships is making the service unprofitable. Begs the question why Hamburg-Sud would put a 3,800 TEU vessel on the service then but I guess they are looking too keep their owned fleet employed and current market conditions may necessitate "out-of-gauge" vessels on some services. And Maersk's alternative service is hardly likely to enamour services as now will be via Tanjung Pelepas which is already at capacity (for peak season period anyway).

Cheers
