Lowestoft tug Reclaim
« on: October 15, 2011, 05:32:03 PM »
There has been a small tug in Lowestoft for quite a long time called Reclaim. I have been unable to find out anything about it except that it's MMSI number is 235068752 and callsign 2BRR4.I believe it has been used on inshore survey work. Please can anyone tell me  when built, tonnage, owners and history.N.B. Not to be confused with a new tug of the same name used on the Thames and owned by Cory, the one in Lowestoft is much older.   Thanks    Jim

Hi Bob
Thanks for your reply. There are some fairly recent photos of her in Lowestoft on Marinetraffic and comparing the pictures it could very well be the same vessel although it has been altered somewhat to do survey work. Regards  Jim

Hi Jim,

Much altered but I would say that it is the same vessel.

Bob

Definitely one-and-the-same.

Now managed by Eastern Marine Services, Lowestoft
managed Eastern Marine Services
http://www.easternmarine.co.uk/#/reclaim/4541859075 (and pdf link to spec)

See confirmation of major conversion from workboat/cargo to multipurpose survey vessel.

Cannot find current owner - and more importantly, anything on her origin.  All I have is British-built in 1989.

Thanks Bob and David for your replies,I always find that there is someone on this site who has the knowledge to answer any questions.
Have just found on trawlerpictures.net (search for picture of TWM Reclaim) that it was one of a series of 3 shrimp trawlers built for Africa but not delivered so it was sold to Tyne and Wear Marine and converted to a workboat;they had it for sale on their site a few years back.
As David said now converted to an inshore survey boat and managed by Eastern Marine Services.
Some of these small vessels can have several changes of use during their life.
Regards   Jim
