A container company from MSC was in the process of loading containers in Port-au-Prince port when the violent earthquake occurred. A crew captured with his camera how the city's container port in a few moments disappeared below sea level. The most recent information was up to 30 port workers were killed when the earthquake destroyed large parts of the port in Port-au-Prince. The dramatic pictures - that can be found under "Image Series" - is divided into two series. In one series, showing how the container port in Port-au-Prince disappears, we see only an image recorded just moments after the earthquake. The dust is still hanging in the air. And in the next two, you can see how the sea washed over the port area, as it collapses. In the second series are close-ups of the pier, where you can see how it will be pierced by the deep cracks, which - after the photo shoot is over - end up across the pier disappear into the sea. An aerial photograph earlier today was brought here on the portal shows that now only the cranes standing water, the rest are gone. The name of the crew who took pictures is unfortunately not known, but Maritime Danmark maritimedanmark.dk have received the images of one of our readers, Michael Nyman, who works for SP Logistics in Chile. Michael Nyman seem to all marine interests should be able to see the pictures - and they are hereby brought forward.
