« on: August 27, 2009, 02:34:58 PM »
Hi All,

Just heard from CBC that Marine Atlantic's ferry Atlantic Vision has encountered an engine problem enroute to Port aux Basques, Newfoundland. More details later.

Thats correct, she was only chartered for the one summer, the Vision has a longer charter, four or five years.

There's been another incident involving the Marine Atlantic ferry "Atlantic Vision". The vessel is out of commission after it struck the dock at Port aux Basques in the morning. of Dec 22, 2009. The vessel was making its final approach to the dock around 7:45 when winds suddenly increased, causing it to strike the dock, resulting in a puncture to its stern. The incident did not result in any injuries to passengers or crew. Temporary repairs will be made as soon as possible and initial assessments will determine how long the vessel will be out of service. Customers with reservations for the 11:30 departure this morning have been rebooked to the 11:30 departure this evening.

come on, a sudden gust of wind, that can happen to every ferry in the world during berthing - and not only ferries.
