Stranded cruise passengers refused refund

Oct 25 2008 by Terrimarie McKeown, Liverpool Echo

High and dry

CRUISE passengers whose ship was left stranded in a Merseyside dock by bad weather have been refused a full refund.

More than 1,300 holidaymakers were expecting to leave Langton Dock, in Bootle, for a three-day voyage on the Thompson Celebration to Ireland on Thursday.

But severe storms forecast for the weekend put a dampener on their plans.

They were told yesterday morning he ship would not set sail, even though they had been on board for almost 24 hours.

Instead, they were offered a free bus ride into Liverpool city centre in a bid to keep their spirits high.

They were also told they would only get back 80% of the cost of the cruise

I'm not impressed with Thompson Cruises   :-?

My wife and I sailed on a weeks cruise onLegend of the Seas from Southampton a little while back.  The weather was atrocious and three ports were cut from the itinery.

We were given  50% of our cruise fare back with no quibble whatsoever, even though the problem was due to the weather which obviously was out of RCI s control.   :-D  :-D
regards Glencairn :-) :pint:
