Steam Stern Wheeler Delta Queen To Be Retired Next Year
« on: August 07, 2007, 03:55:25 PM »
No further exemption from modern safety regulations will be granted by the U.S. Congress, so the Delta Queen will be retired Nov. 2008. She and her sister the Delta King were shipped in pieces to America for assembly from Wm Denny on the Clyde.

Hi William

Yes its a real shame that this vessels working life should come to an end. I see that there is a campaign to preserve her - good luck to them.

Quite a good article on the Delta Queen at the Shipping Times web site @ http://www.shippingtimes.co.uk/ite802_deltaqueen.htm

Regards
