Small passenger vessel Quest grounded off Greenland
« on: June 27, 2007, 04:11:57 PM »
Quest (ex Disko II) grounded off Greenland this morning. There  were 72 people onboard. It was not dramatic.

Since it happened at high tide there are fears that the vessel will capzise at low tide. Therefor people have been taken of the ship.

on June 27 the Bahamas registered passenger m/v "Quest", the former "Disko 2" and "Saqqit Ittuk" ran aground off Godhavn, Greenland. The ship was sitting "high'n'dry" on a sand bar and had to be evacuated. 52 passengers and two guides were on board. The decision to evacuate the cruise ship was a precautionary measure since the "Quest" was listing. Weather conditions were calm. The vessel could possibly leave the sandbank at next high tide June 28. The passengers were Danish nationals. They were transferred to a nearby sports arena. Tour operator Albatros Travel planned to commission another vessel for the passengers who were on a whale safari. The crew remained onboard the double-hulled vessel. The ship`s  management is the International Shipping Partners in Florida.
