AIS Database Error
« on: July 20, 2021, 08:17:59 AM »
Hi Forum,

I'm experiencing an anomaly when viewing a vessel. Upon clicking on a photograph to view the particulars, the photo loads but then no information below, just the message "AIS Database error". Doesn't happen with all photo's though. Maybe its my server because it takes an inordinate amount of time to load.

Regards,

Hello Everyone,
I recently asked a question regarding this issue on "is there a site issue". This data base error message and slow down load speed at that time was what triggered my interest. it would appear to still be causing concern.
Speed is no longer an issue here, but the message still appears under full screen viewing.Just a comment for others to ponder!
Best wishes,
Anthony Legg

No problems in UK with site for months, 100% OK, but perhaps Southampton gets preferential treatment.

As nobody replied to my request over a week ago, and as I have not experienced this problem at all, I assumed that it had been resolved.

As the message is "AIS Database error" this may refer to an error in the linked AIS database provided as an automatic feed from Shiptrax, over which we have no control.  If that is the reason, it may account for it not affecting all photos as not all ships are in that database.

If you still getting this problem please send screen shot to me at [email protected] and indicate whether it is constant over time and consistant between photos.

I don't understand "the message still appears under full screen viewing". If you view a photo as "full screen" there is not supposed to be any text below it (at least I have never seen any over the last 15 years).
