For the first time today, 9th January, the Port of Felixstowe berthed 2 Ultra Large Container Ships at the same time on its newly extended berths 8 and 9 complex. The 15,000 TEU Al Murabba, a 368 metre UASC A15 class vessel was completing container operations on berth 9 as the 18,270 TEU Mary Maersk, a 400 Triple E arrived and was laid alongside berth 8.
The Al Murabba sailed soon after, and Mary Maersk was moved to berth 9 to carry out her cargo operations.
