FSG launches its second maxi-ro-ro for Ulusoy
Last week the German company Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) has launched its second ro-ro unit for the Turkish company Ulusoy Denizcilik AS. As its twin-sister launched in August (S2S n.33/2012), Ulusoy 15 -which slided into the Flensburg Fiord without a problem- is 208 meters long, has space for 283 trailers with a loading capacity of 4,094 lane meters, and will serve on the route between Cesme and Trieste.
The ro-ro vessels will replace four older units: with almost the same freight capacity as the old ones, the new ships will require a significantly lower amount of fuel.
Their implementation, commented Peter Sierk, Managing Director of the company, was possible thanks to the financial support of KfW Ipex-Bank GmbH and Euler Hermes Exportkreditversicherung.
The delivery of this second unit is scheduled for January 2013.
