Esso Berth 5
« on: July 20, 2011, 12:53:52 PM »
Hi there

It would appear that Esso Berth 5 at Fawley is out of action, no vessel has used it since Karen Knutsen on 14/15th.  Latest crude arrivals are going to Esso Berth 4  -  anyone know what's going on ?   Spanner maybe.

I posted the question on another site and it appears the reason is that "Fawley berth 5 is out of use for an inspection of the crude arms".
:-o ...

Hi Jim

Thanks

Must be a long inspection because according to VTS movements all crude shipments are going to E4 until at least 28th.  Maybe some renewal taking place also.

It may be worse than that, Allan. I see on the BBC news site that a rigger was killed there yesterday.

You are all correct, Fawley berth 5 is out of use for heavy maintenance until mid August. The incident with the rigger didn't happen on the berth but was related to work being carried out there. Maintenance has stopped at moment until investigation complete so maybe mid August could go on a little longer. Hope this answer helps

Hi Spanner

Thanks for the confirmation.  Condolences to the contractors family.
