The takn m/v "York" was hijacked off the coast of Kenya on Oct 23. The ship was underway with a crew of 16 Filipinos and a German captain. Contact to the crew was lost. The ship had radioed a distress signal and then altered course towards the Somalian coast. It had departed from Mombasa on Oct 20 and was underway to Mahe, Seychelles.
