Calshot or Hythe?
« on: July 13, 2010, 02:40:31 PM »
Hi,

I'm visiting the New Forest this weekend and hope to have time to catch the cruise ships sailing from Southampton, I've been to Hythe before but is Calshot any better?

Thanks

Bob

Calshot is just great, way better than Hythe, but impossible to get to without a car.
cheers

Calshot favourite. You will have to supply your own buckshot to ward off the yachts and jet skis. Sun?? is favourable approx 11.00am to sunset. Toilets and restaurant/bar on site.
Leave Kelvin & me space to park. (There is a parking fee but sometimes they do not collect)
Arrivals / departures can be found, at link below, a little nearer the day. Tanker times/Fawley/Hamble are at Calshot/ Hook Buoy , other vessels times at Southampton berths. Allow at least an hour for ship travel time re Calshot to/from Southampton Docks.
