D & J Boot Scheepswerf alphen a/d Rijn
« on: April 17, 2010, 09:07:01 PM »
Good Day I am looking for info or photos of 4 trawlers built for Booth Fisheries Canadian Company in the late 1950's at D & J Boot Alphen a/d Rijn, Holland.
There names are:
Jean H Fletcher
Barbara Fletcher
Elizabeth Fletcher
Nancy Fletcher

Does anyone have any contact info to find shipyard photos and information for these vessels.

Thank You
Jarrod David

Dear Sir,

I can't really help you with any pictures or direct info on these vessels. But I do know that one of the shipping museums in the Netherlands (Noordelijk Scheepvaartmuseum) has a large amount of drawings of ships build in local yards, the drawings of the shipyard you mentioned are part of their collection. You might be able to order copies of the drawings of the vessels you are looking for.

http://www.noordelijkscheepvaartmuseum.nl/scheepsbouwtekeningen_en.html

Look under: "shipyards in other parts of the Netherlands" and then "Gebr. D & J Boot Scheepswerf Alphen a/d Rijn".

Another useful piece of information might be that the Gebr. D & J Boot Scheepswerf was taken over by the "T. van Duijvendijk's Scheepswerf" in Dutch town of Lekkerkerk.

Hope you find more info soon, good luck on your quest!

Kind regards,

Eddy

Hi,
I recently obtained drawings of coasters built at the same shipyard from the Maritiem Museum Rotterdam (www.maritiemmuseum.nl). Understand the whole collection is held by this museum not the one from Groningen which is also very useful for other inquires. rgds / Roland

Hi Jarrod,

The Elizabeth H.Fletcher was launched on 03-09-1958 for a Dutch owner as TORONTO,and was build by J.Boot "De Dageraad",Woubrugge. In 1962 she became Elizabeth H.Fletcher.
The right names of the others are:
Jean H.Fletcher
Barbara B.Fletcher
Nancy J.Fletcher
Yardnumbers:1283-1284 & 1285
They all had a 4stroke single acting 8cil Industrie engine.
Measures: 134'10" - 24'11" - 10'7"
This is all I found and hope its helpfull.

regards,
Kees Heemskerk
