Sir Robert Bond Makes Trip to Nain, Labrador
« on: December 07, 2008, 11:58:05 PM »
Hi,

I should have mantioned it earlier, but I will mention it now. Dec 1, 2008 the Sir Robert Bond made a trip to Nain, Labrador and tried up to unload some roll on / roll off traffic.
This is the first trip to Nain ever for the Bond, which has operated on the Labrador Service since 1977-78 after the sinking of the William Carson. Her normal route is from Lewisporte, Cartwright and Goose Bay. I should also note that while the Bond was in Nain, well over half of the ship was not alongside the dock. This is also the first ever time a ship the size of the Bond tied up in this Northern town.

Regards
Dean

I did not know that you can so far north in this time of year... remember back; when we tried to go north in June 2007. The "Bond" just began her service. But we made it. :-)

They had some freight they had to get up there before the ice came. I remember 2007 there was a big delay on the start up.
