Ferry dispute ends in Calais
« on: September 01, 2015, 09:34:45 AM »
At a meeting today in the transport ministry in Paris, we reached an agreement, which
will end the conflict about the two former SeaFrance ships that have been occupied by
members of the SCOP Seafrance union Syndicat Maritime de Nord.
As part of the agreement, DFDS has agreed to hire 202 staff from SCOP SeaFrance in order
to utilise a third ship on the Dover-Calais route.
Eurotunnel will similarly employ a number of former SCOP SeaFrance staff to run a special
freight vessel. They will also employ a number of people on security duties to deal
with the situation with migrants in Calais.
The agreement means that the occupied ships will be released so Eurotunnel can deliver
the ships to DFDS
