A new 87 foot U.S. Coast Guard cutter was commissioned Friday, April 14 in a ceremony in Honolulu, Hawaii, U.S.A. The new cutter Ahi, which carries a crew of 10, is an 87 foot Marine Protector Class coastal patrol boat which will be used for law enforcement, search and rescue, and homeland security.
Prior to reaching Hawaiian waters, the cutter survived both hurricane Katrina and Rita.
