Any plans for the "Kent" ex "Maas Viking"?
« on: October 11, 2012, 04:53:51 PM »
Norfolk Line's relatively new RO/RO "Maas Viking"was withdrawn from her regular schedule on September 1st. and spent some time at her Vlaardingen berth to be renamed "Kent".
On October 1st. she shifted to a unused Cobelfret berth near Rozenburg and has been there ever since. Although no notable activities are taking place, she does not seem to be laid up either.
Can anybody shed some light on this? Attached the link to pictures taken by my fellow Rozenburg shipspotter Jan Oosterboer. Mark the new name; it seems as if it was applied temporarily....

She has just been acquired by Cobelfret along with RoRo vessels "Mercia" & "Wessex" presently
laid up in Astakos Greece.

This is due to Meridian Marine management ceasing trading. another six vessels. "Humber Viking"
,"strait of magellan","Bering strait","Strait of Dover","Strait Of Messina" & "Strait Of
Gibralter" have been acquired by Grimaldi Of italy.

Strait of Magellen was laid up in Tilbury docks for months when I worked down there.
I used to chat to the Russian crew in the local Mission.

Nice to see she will finally be put to work.
