US Coast Guard tender Cherry to Suriname
« on: June 20, 2012, 07:57:15 PM »
On 20 May 1965 the United States Coast Guard sold the lighthouse tender Cherry (built 1931) to the Suriname government, along with the Dahlia. Some years ago a person posted here a photo of the Dahlia in Surinam colors (under a different name) and discussed what became of the Cherry (I believed abandoned around Paramaribo, as I recall), but I cannot find that posting.  I would like to know what these vessels' names were under Suriname control, and their fates.  Many thanks.

If these vessels were sold in 1965, they must have been sold to the Dutch government since Surinam was it's colony till 1975. Perhaps one of the members who has experience with the "Ministry of overseas territories" in Holland would know more about the matter.

Brgds,
Robert.
