As far as old photos that are scanned don't forget what this site is about, Shipspotting, not ship photography.

Help and Advice / River Fal laid-up ships
« on: March 29, 2015, 08:24:48 PM »
Spending a week in my old county of Cornwall and would like to take photos of any ships that are laid-up at King Harry Ferry. Does anybody know whats there at present and where I can get up to date information on the actual day.

Thanks in advance,

Dave Gallie (gwrdave).
New Zealand.

PS Took photos way back in the 1960s of Shaw Savilles ships and the Franconia and Carmania, photos on site.

I know I've seen several articles on Cowes etc but does anybody know the best places on the Isle of Wight and what the time difference is between ships docking at say Southampton and Fawley. What sort of lens would I need and position of the sun. Be at Cowes early May.

Any information would be gladly accepted.

I lent a friends Nikon LS4000 and along with the software Vuescan did a pretty good job, even if the slide had a lot of dirt and mould on them, then finished with Photoshop or IrfanView. Most of my photos of older ships have been done this way. The Nikon machine is however quite pricey.
