Thanks for the photo. That certainly is a full load!

SUPER SERVANT 4 just passing the Saguenay River with two new ferries on board. It would be nice to see any photos of the vessel en route Quebec City or of the ferries as they make their way to Lake Ontario.  Amherst Islander II and Wolfe Islander IV

Bank effect! Thanks Ted. Very much seems to be a debated phenomenon but in fact needs to be accepted. We had a recent event in my neck of the woods on the Welland Canal with the Florance Spirit and in spite of the bank effect in play many, many uneducated and ignorant accusations were made toward the crew of both vessels involved. Thanks Ted for your ongoing contribution.

Yes 7.1 knots. I wonder what forces were at play when she was bridging the canal at low tide?

Yes of course, thanks Marc. Welland opened up here last week and the season is well underway. I hope the ceremony doesn't take too long, they are lined up on Lake Ontario.

Vessels are lining up and Baie St. Paul appears to be stuck in the lock? Does anyone know if there is a problem?

She is making her way up the St Lawrence and is approaching Prescott. Seems to have eluded all the shipspotters on the River so far.

Des Groseilliers now on Lake Ontario. What a year!

Pierre Raddison still on Erie, now joined by Amundsen and it appears that Griffon is on its way back. Must be trouble? I once read a lake bottom survey report which found that the ice can be forced to the bottom when large ridges form, and create gouging in the lake bottom.

It continues to be an unusual year with Martha Black and Griffon continuing to work the east end of the lake at the entrance to the St Lawrence River. I crossed on the ferry to Amherst Island Wednesday and it seemed normal.
