The chemical/oil products tanker SIBUYAN WIND (IMO 8517102) has been sold in Gibraltar. She has most probably been sold for scrap as her name has been changed to SIBU and her flag to St Kitts & Nevis.

Also, the reefer LOGAN (IMO 9035084) has also been sold whilst in detention in Gibraltar for further use and has been renamed HAIFENG618.

I am still in touch with Neill and unfortunatley his recovery isnt going that well, he is partially blind and is losing mobility on his limbs but we all hope and pray that one day he will be able to write in this forum himself and let everyone know that his site is back up and running and that he is back to photographing ships.

The oil products tanker ARAFURA WIND (IMO 8517023) was renamed CARIBIC in Gibraltar in November 2009. She still flies the Liberian flag. She sailed last week into the mediterranean.

Just to add to JISOLAS post...the EW JACKSON and the ARAFURA WIND were joined in Gibraltar by the tanker SIBUYAN WIND and the reefer LOGAN. The EW JACKSON left over a month ago with destination Port Said. The ARAFURA WIND was sold and has been renamed CARIBIC (same flag) and left yesterday for the mediterranean. Still with us are the two. They have been joined now for some time on lay up / detained by the tanker ANTISANA JORF and the container ship WESTERMUHLEN.

The bulk carrier TAWE was pulled off the rocks at Algeciras yesterday evening. She was succesfully pulled out by the Boluda tugs based at Algeciras and the larger VB ARTICO under the supervision of Svitzer Salvage. The ship was then taken to the shipyard at San Roque where she will be surveyed and repaired.

Just heard that another bulk carrier has grounded in the area. The bulk carrier TAWE has gone aground in punta San garcia in Algeciras where the reefer Sierra Nava went aground a couple of years ago.

Not of the actual grounding as this happened this evening. I have some pics when she was 0.5nm from the coast.

PS Just heard that a spanish rescue helicopter is on the scene to rescue the crewmen.

Yet another grounding in Gibraltar this evening. This afternoon the 35886gt, 1984 built bulk carrier FEDRA (IMO 8208713) lost engine power and started drifting toward the coast on the east side of Gibraltar. Tugs deployed to the area and when i saw her about 0.5 nm from the coast they seemed to have her under control. Unfortunately the stormy weather has worsened and the ship drifted stern first onto the cliffs just below the lighthouse at Europa point and then swerved alongside the cliffs. 30 crew members are still onboard and efforts are underway tonight to take them off the ship.

The larger spanish tug DON INDA (already showing on AIS off Tarifa) will arrive on the scene tomorrow replacing the MIGUEL DE CERVANTES in the salvage operations.

Today it was the local MoD tug's - MSG CAPABLE A 226 - turn to stand guard off the ship with the REMOLCANOSA CINCO with regular visits by the Gibraltar tugs MUMBLES & EGERTON.
