Shipping News and information / Sapphire Highway

Hi there,

Early 2009 I spotted the Vehicle Carrier Sapphire Highway: http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=967804

Lately I was checking her on Equasis, and was quite surprised when I noticed she has been broken up since September 2009.

When searching the net, I (hardly) cannot get more info about her. Like scrap price per ton, which place she was (probably) beached etc.

Does someone overhere know more about her last destination and faith?

Keep up the good work! Thanks in advance!

Regards, Klaas-Jan

Shipping News and information / Ship launchings 2012 in the Netherlands
« on: January 11, 2012, 05:59:34 PM »
Hi all,

Formerly I could find information about expected launchings (tradditional slipways or sideway launchings) of ships within one or two months.

However, I'm searching and searching, but so far I can't find any expected launchings yet until March this year. Location can be anywhere in Holland; it doesn't matter to me.

Can somebody help me with this info? It would really be appriciated!

Keep up the good work!

Greetings,
Klaas-Jan

Hmmm, lets see if she comes to Rotterdam, but don't expect too much yet.

Reading on the internet that there's also a possibility that she's going to Turkey for repairs.

Just wondering where in the world are drydocks located which can handle ships of this size?

Rotterdam and Singapore for sure, but are there more locations?

For sure Rotterdam makes more sence then Singapore in case of repairs when you take her curent location into account...

Hi all,

Any news already about which Vale vessel will visit the Port of Rotterdam? And more news about her ETA?
As what I can see right now, nothing to be expected yet...

Thanks!

Keep up the good work!

Shipping News and information / Changed and deleted locations
« on: November 04, 2010, 07:06:18 PM »

Hi all,

When I check my photos, I discovered that most of my locations are suddently changed. I didn't do anything and didn't visit this site for about one week.

For example, all my last pics with location Maasvlakte (Holland) are changed in Youghal, Ireland... ???
Furthermore some locations are totally deleted as well...

What happened?

Kind regards,

Klaas-Jan (Shiplover)

Ga dan zelf geen onzinnige berichten op het net zetten

Neem een voorbeeldf aan je zelf eerst slap lullen en het niet waar kunnen maken Typisch voor gasten van de Waterweg Grote bek weing resultaten

Hi Wim,

Because this is a site with members all arround the world, just keep this discussion in English, will you?

Seems you are jealous about spotters on the Nieuwe Waterweg. According your statements (which is allowed) all spotters at the Nieuwe Waterweg are the same and know nothing about the business.

Bullshit! Use your mind when you are posting something on this forum, but unfortunately you didn't so far...

Most of the members try to post something usefull and because we all are human beings, faults or mistakes can be made. Just try to accept it and / or add additional information. Thank you!

I can say I know something about the maritime industries, because I am working in it and according my papers I am a naval architect. And yes, you can find me often at the Nieuwe Waterweg...

Kind regards,

Klaas-Jan

Hi all,

First of all, what is the definition of vessels which are laid up? A few days? A few weeks? A few months (defiantly yes). But I think when (some) operators won

Shipping News and information / Re: New Sietas type 178
« on: July 23, 2008, 09:20:51 AM »
Hi all,

Today (yes, a little bit late) I saw the first pictures of the new Sietas 178.
I think it's time for an update about some technical aspects.

I think the Sietas 178 is based on the design of the Oceanex Avalon (which I still don't know which Sietas type she is). The hydraustatics looks like identical, but the Oceanex Avalon is a little bit smaller (little bit more than 1000 TEU).

The engine is one of the MAN-B&W L58/64 series, probably the 8L58/64 as mentioned at this website: http://containerinfo.co.ohost.de
Technical data about the engine can be found atMAN-B&W.

At the website of Peter Dohle the first Sietas 178 is the Monika Ehler, but now we know it

Hi all,

Maybe this is not a new subject, it is still a new topic. As said, several members have posted one or more comments in case of the (new) Sietas 168L. Jan Svendsen and Jan Tiedemann did an article in their (containershipping) newsletter.
But I think there

Hi again,

About Remontowa. They have newbuildings (or outfitting of casco's), but how about the repair? Is it the only shipyard in Gdansk whit drydocks for shiprepairs?
And if I'm right, Remontowa is NOT a part of Gdanska Shipyard (which is part of Stocznia Gdynia???)?
