Site related news, functions and modules / Unable to edit photos
« on: August 11, 2022, 07:49:24 PM »
Hi, I have searched the forum but cannot find a similar thread.

While trying to edit & update a photo of mine ( https://www.shipspotting.com/photos/3456456 ) - when clicking on  the 'edit' button, the screen goes to the correct editing screen for a millisecond, then goes completely blank, and stay that way.

I have tried over two days, cleared cookies, logged out, then in again, but to no avail.

Any suggestions please, or is there a web functionality problem?

Many thanks,
Rick

Shipping News and information / SPICA J - container ship
« on: January 17, 2022, 10:14:33 AM »
Noted on the FLICKR website today, two very good aerial photos of 'Spica J', by Piet Sinke, the Singapore based, Dutch photographer, whom many of you will know.

You may like to see them here:

&
https://flic.kr/p/2mXJB5m

But, what is she doing so far from her usual North European waters?
She is still shown as under Jungerhans ownership.
In ballast, passing Singapore, heading for Taicang, China.
Perhaps a modification?

Any information welcome,
Rick

"Ji Mei" IMO 6604482 in Sihanoukville, Cambodia in a whacky new livery.
A friend sent these poor quality images to me yesterday, from the cruise ship 'Costa Fortuna' which called at the port.

In view of the historical interest of this now 52 year old, former Norwegian ferry 'Prinsesse Ragnhild', I thought it would be better to see these grim photos, than not at all.

Shipping News and information / CSCL / COSCON 22,000 teu ships
« on: April 14, 2017, 08:45:30 PM »
Spoke to the master of CSCL GLobe today, 14 April 2017; he stated that the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding yard will begin to deliver the first of six, 420 metre long, 22,000 teu vessels from the end of this year to CSCL/COSCON.

If the info is accurate, they will be the first megabox carriers to exceed 400 metres & will be enaged on the Far East - NW Europe service.

Shipping News and information / Engine room explosion - Manhattan Bridge
« on: January 20, 2017, 06:03:12 AM »
Tragically, one crewman died and one has been seriously injured, sustaining severe burns, aboard the Japanese flagged container vessel Manhattan Bridge (IMO 9689615) when vessel sustained a violent engine room explosion during berthing operations at the Port of Felixstowe's Trinity Terminal, about 2310 hrs on Thursday 19 January 2017.

Vessel is currently undergoing investigations to establish possible causes of the explosion, for what I suspect was a main engine crankcase explosion. To be confirmed.

This vessel has had, in the past, a full Philippino complement of crew, from top to bottom.

The vessel is cordoned off at the moment while investigators carry out their work.
Cargo operations are on hold until those investigations have been completed.

The second batch of 5 X 14,000 teu ships for long term charter to Evergreen are under construction by Imabari shipyard, Japan.
(The first batch of 5, chartered in from Costamare, have been delivered & are in service)

The information, translated from Japanese, leaves me unsure which exact shipyard are building the ships. Imabari bought out Koyo Dockyard in 2014 and renamed it Hiroshima Shipyard of Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and I think that this is the yard in question. Perhaps somebody knows different?
