Shipping News and information / "SANDNES" going off track.
« on: February 28, 2016, 06:17:41 PM »
The self-discharging bulk-carrier "Sandnes" (Imo: 9306029) ran aground on the river Elbe at the outskirts of Hamburg port today in morning. The ship had just departed from the Pella Sietas yard with a draught of only 3,6m (marinetraffic) when it struck the riverbed while maneuvering in a narrow deep-water channel, which connects the Sietas-yard with the fairway of the river Elbe. At the moment, with rising tide, several small tugs attempt to free the vessel.

A short sum-up of a German newspaper article you can find right here:http://www.spiegel.de/panorama/hafen-hamburg-schon-wieder-ein-frachter-auf-grund-gelaufen-a-1079720.html

Shipping News and information / Russian FSO / Crude oil tanker to Hamburg
« on: December 01, 2015, 12:16:33 PM »
Russian FSO "Nataly" (8915794) is due to call at Hamburg port tomorrow morning as reported by Marinetraffic. See: http://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/details/ships/shipid:351090/mmsi:273535310/imo:8915794/vessel:NATALY

Her last port of call was Murmansk, where she apparently spent some time laid-up or as a FSO-unit respectively.

I wonder, if she is bound to undergo a complete overhaul at Blohm&Voss shipyard as it was the case with two other FPSO units in recent times. However, yet no sources to approve this.

Maybe someone is able to shed light on this event.

Thanks in advance & Kind regards,
David

Shipping News and information / Bulker to Cuxhaven
« on: April 10, 2015, 10:56:14 AM »
In the course of the previous weeks, it has become a common sight to see empty Handy-size/Handy-max bulk-carrier moored at Cuxhaven outer harbour, opposite to the yacht harbour:

"Srategic Unity" stayed from 3.04. till 7.04. followed by "Lord Nelson" (7.04.-10.04.). Today, "Four Diamond" arrived at the same berth.

All the bulkers afterwards returned to respectively had come from an anchorage at the German bight, waiting for free berth at Hamburg port.

Subsequently my question is: For what purpose do the vessels sail to Cuxhaven? As far as I know they have not been under cargo operations at the port therefore I wonder about this habbit. Maybe they bunker?

Thanks for enlightment in advance,
Regards, David

Shipping News and information / Refugee ship "TRANSIT" in Hamburg
« on: January 03, 2015, 03:15:08 PM »
On Friday, 19. december 2014 the 110 metres long refugee ship "Transit" arrived at Hamburg port in the tow of "RT Spirit" and lifted on "Boabarge 35" from Rotterdam.

There are plans for the ship to host about 220 refugees from january 2015 on, but since now, they haven't found a proper place for a constant berth at Harburg river port.

Moreover, the necessity of building conversions and repairs onboard still exists in order to assure a suitable and effective accommodation for the refugees.

A photograph of "Transit" you'll find here: http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=2166899,

A photograph of "Boabarge 35" made by Jens Boldt: http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=2162562

Please feel free to add some additional information about the "ship".

Shipping News and information / LNG-HYBRID-BARGE
« on: October 04, 2014, 02:11:04 PM »
Aida's "LNG-Hybrid-Barge" arrived in Hamburg today. She was delievered by the Slovak Komarno shipyard in September and made her way via Danube and Rhine to the Maasvlakte. From there, she was towed by the seatugs "Twister" and "Taucher O.Wulf 3" and entered Hamburg port this morning. Final works will be conducted while a short dry-dock session in Blohm & Voss docks within the next few days. After that, she will perform her first service by supplying "Aidasol" with LNG-fuel in the mid of October.
I will post some shots of her arrival as soon as the conditions allow.

Help and Advice / Shipspotting locations in Aarhus & Grenaa port
« on: July 24, 2014, 07:16:18 PM »
Hi all,
I'm going to spend some days in August in the vicinity of Aarhus and Grenaa and look up for helpfull tipps about where to go in the ports to get good pictures. I'm especially interested in the Aarhus container terminal and would be very pleased if someone could give me some information about easy accessible locations (also harbour boat trips, if existing). Thanks for your efforts.
Cheers, David
