Help and Advice / Re: Holiday Italy
« on: May 23, 2010, 07:40:22 PM »
As usual with the Visentini constructions the first owner is Visentini himself; he usually tries to sell the ships before the launch but if it's not possible He will manage them a couple of year.
The Old Visentini, I don't know if he's still alive was a hot tempered man, usually running about aboard a forklift and throwing in the channel all the things that in his opinion where without a owner.

Yes at least one italian
Sorry for the delay.
Near Venice there is a good place for shipspotting, it is called Fusina.
It stands south of the commercial port of Venice, right in front of the dredged canal all the commercial ships are to use to enter Venice.
It's nothing like the Hook of Holland, you must be patient.
Another good place is the ferry between Porto Corsini and Marina di Ravenna, that is the entrance to the port-canal of Ravenna itself.
In both location you will have the ships passing at no more than 20 meters of distance, so every camera will do the work nicely.
But both places are dreadful if your family is not interested in seeing ships passing by, so I suggest you to leave them in the towns center and go all alone.

Hope It will help

A collision has happened in the strait of Messina, today: monday, Jan 15th 2007, at 18.20 (GMT +1); between a russian container ship, with Antigua flag, and a hydrofoil of the Italian Railways, in ferry service between Reggio Calabria and Messina.
There have been many injured among the passengers but, as for now, no casualties.
