Very sad to hear of Ken's passing. I had the privilege to meet Ken for a short time and he taught me much about shipping photography.  RIP Ken

When is North Sea Ro-Ro video Part 2 coming out? Are cargo operations on the books for future recordings?

Fantastic site. I just went to look at Shipping TV and it is excellent. I was working in Felixstowe at No. 3 & 4 RoRo until 1980. Seeing Felixstowe again on Shipping TV brought back many happy memories. Thank you.

Shipping News and information / Re: Original 12 Korean RoRo's

There was a 12th ship on the books being built but no name. I lost all that information when my computer crashed some time ago. I now see on the German site stating there were 11 in total so what happened to the 12th vessel that was almost finished?

It was a very sad emotional affair as I was there to watch the HMCS Iroquois being paid off and decommissioned. The RCN is slowly dying due to the lack of attention like most navy's of the world. Being a retired member of the RCN I can't see any improvement to our once proud Navy with the new ships yet to be built. It was a sad day indeed.

Good day. I would like to thank Malte Classens, SteKrueBe and simonwp for the prompt replies to my favourite subject of RoRo's. Through my work with Fred. Olsen and TOR Line I have travelled on and loved these vessels for over 40 years. That era has changed and moved on to bigger and better ships but I still love my RoRo ships of the 1970's. We wrote the book on RoRo's. Thanks Malte for connecting me up again with the Swedish shipping site.. I had lost the site when changing computers a few years ago. I am soon retiring and I will now have time to sort, scan and post alot more pictures. Thanks again for your replies.

I found some old pictures of the original 12 Korean RoRo's from the 1970's. Our company had the TOR Felicia and then there was the Stena Shipper - IMO 7528582. Does anyone remember the names of the original 12 vessels?

Hi Bob,
The old site is not coming up but I was able to register on the new site a few days ago. I can't get into it today for reasons unknown. I'll keep trying till I succeed.

At 1300Z today am unable to even get into marinetraffic.com . After the 15th it was still showing the old format. What happened to the new format as advertised to happen October 15th?

Hi Jarrod,
Long time no talk..
here is a translation to the article but I don't think the Iroquois is going to retire yet.

"The dock number 2 also offers a breathtaking view of the river could also receive riverboats people - emerging in Quebec. But be that these passengers are at the center of things to do, to eat to visit, "he added. This is why the City wants to buy a boat built here, the destroyer HMCS Iroquois could be converted into a museum of shipbuilding telling this part of the story Sorel. The ultimate goal? Bring people to live downtown, services move there to serve them and the tourists who pass. "A downtown business lives only certain times of the week. Not a quarter inhabited. "By people of all backgrounds and all ages, O'Brien insisted Mireille Group technical resources in house. "No way gentrifier downtown," said Mayor. In any case, it is necessary that the city owns land - to sell to developers or to alter access to its infrastructure and avoid speculation. "What investors are confident that their investment will not lose 25% of its value in five years!" A Vision applauded by those present.

One stability question... why did ship come to roll and rest on starboard side when water entered portside? Reason for asking was over 40 years ago since I studied the subject of stability.

Thanks
