My wife and I are planning a trip to Hamburg this summer. We will visit the museum ship
Cap San Diego and a dream for us is to join a tour on the Elbe onboard Cap San Diego.

Does anyone know the sailing schedule for summer 2014?

We are flexible about the time of the visit and it is possible to join a river trip with Cap San Diego, so we will adjust the trip accordingly. Thanks for the information in advance.

Does anyone have pictures of "Safeer Express" during scrapping in Alang?
Safeer Express arrived Alang early February 2012 and she was beached shortly after.

Safeer Express was built at Uddevalla Shipyard in Sweden as Tromaas in 1983, I was 1. officer on board when it had a Norwegian flag.

I understand that M/S Safeer Express has ETA Alang in India on February 3 for scrapping.

Does anyone have experience in visiting Alang shipbreaking yards, when the purpose is to see the ship and not criticize the working condiotons ?
If anyone has experience with the above, I'll receive information with great thanks.

Another option is if anyone has contacts at Alang, which could help with the visit.

Shipping News and information / M/S Safeer Express sold for scrap

I understand that M/S Safeer Express is sold to Bangladesh for scrap. According to AIS for Safeer Express, she arrived in Chittagong with a cargo on December 9th 2011.
 Safeer Express was delivered to A.J. Morland as Tromaas in 1983 and this was the last ship I sailed as mate before I started working in the north sea.

 I have followed the ship for many years and I would like to get all information possible about scraping. Here are some examples.

                   - Beaching place
                   - Beaching date
                   - Any pictures or video from the scrapping
                   - Are there any small objects for sale as
                     for example the ship's bell
                   - Status of remaining parts of the ship
                   - When the ship is fully broken up

 thank you so much in advance for any information regarding Safeer Express.

Shipping News and information / "Pride of Telemark" at Gibraltar

Does anyone know why the "Pride of Telemark" is at anchor in Gibraltar? It has been there a few days now and according to the AIS she was on its way to Alang, India for scrapping with eta late October. If she is waiting for bunkers, I think it has taken a long time or are there other problems?
