Tanker-design applied to cont-ships.

Anyone heard of the "Malaccamax" container carriers?
I saw a note about it somewhere sometime, but don't remember anymore.

Well folks.

It seems this story has a very sad ending.

Knock Nevis is renamed to "Mont" and was 11 days ago bound for Bhavnagar,
a city 50km north of Alang. So I'm pretty shure she will be scrapped.
A sad ending for the mightiest ship of them all.  :-(

So there's actually only two real ULCC's left?
I guess that the need for these big vessels is not that big today then.

Shipping News and information / How many ULCC's are presently in service?

I'm wondering how many ULCC's there are in service at this present time. I only know five of them.
These are:

FSO Knock Nevis.
TI Europe.
TI Oceania.
FSO Asia (Ex. TI Asia).
TI Africa (will soon become FSO Africa).

If you want you may fill in the list.

Thank you and best regards.

/Daniel

That's some good news.
Let's hope this really will be the case then.

Did you have any pictures of her?
That would be nice.

If this vessel should be an ordinary tanker, then you're right.
But this is a FSO and due to vessels TI Asia (now FSO Asia) and TI Africa being converted as we speak, there is still demands of these kind of vessels.

Oh no!!!

My idol is going to die.
I really hope there is somebody that will take care of her instead of Alang or some other scrapper.
