I noticed that photographs uploaded since the beginning of March have "Shipspotting.com ... Image Copyright

Looks good!

It would be nice if full-size photo ("full screen") could be opened in a new tab instead of a new window.

I wonder what's the actual name of the tanker in the photographs...

I, for one, fully understand the ban on modern black-and-white photographs on a website like Shipspotting.com. At this day and age, shooting black-and-white film or using one of those very few monochrome digital cameras is a conscious choice for purely artistic purposes rather than a matter of availability or affordability like in the past. I'm also fairly sure that even during the age of black-and-white film most shipspotters would have preferred color negatives or slides over black-and-white film.

However, if you happened to capture a once-in-a-lifetime ship photograph with your monochrome Leica digital rangefinder, I'm sure the admins would make an exception...

While I am not familiar with the subject, I would assume that there are free apps for smartphones that can handle simple corrections and adjustments such as cropping, rotating etc.

Century Harmony (ex-Carnival Fascination) sold for scrap in Alang:

I wonder if we are going to see more scrapping due to high steel prices?

ex-LUNNI/ex-INDIGA (IMO 7421942), renamed IND, has left Murmansk under tow towards Suez. However, the convoy has now stopped in Troms

Tuomas, I actually only mentioned the RAW size as a reply to the statement that Dirk knows nobody who shoots at more than 10 MB. Sometimes I get jpeg sizes of about 10MB, when I use the Canon 1Dx, but I prefer the 1D Mark IV as my lense 28-300 does not vignetting problems there because of the 1.3 crop factor.

Thank you for explaining.

I usually shoot "RAW+JPEG fine" with my Nikon D600. The JPEGs tend to be about 12-14 MB if there are a lot of details in the pictures.

25
That is correct, but RAW contains much more information than shooting directly in jpg. That info can used to improve the jpg that results from the raw conversion.

Absolutely. Every photographer's workflow should be "shoot RAW, process, publish JPEG". Thus, there is no need for the website to accept RAWs.

26
While the photograph itself is very nice, I fully agree that the technical quality is not up to the standards due to overcompression.

The only set back is that this site does not accept RAW format.

I have always thought RAW is more like a digital negative whereas JPG is the "developed" photograph.

I think the funnel is intact...

After falling down from considerable height, the funnel has been submerged in the same surf zone that demolished the wreck for about 15 years. I'd be surprised if you could tell the funnel apart from other scrap in the seafloor.

Considering how the wreck of SS America gradually disintegrated on the beach, I doubt there's anything left of the funnel in the seabed.

Source?

Can that cruise ship in the attached screenshot from latest Sentinel-2 satellite photograph be anything but Majesty of the Oceans? The vessel appeared alongside the tankers/bulkers sometime between 13 and 20 May; unfortunately due to cloud cover it's impossible to give more exact date.

Aegean Goddess, on the other hand, is transmitting fresh AIS.

Update from Aliaga, the aformentioned vessels have no bow now. https://www.instagram.com/p/COhluB0qAbU/

Looks like Arctic's scrapping is also progressing well as the vessel's ice-strengthened bow is already gone.
