This is getting really annoying. I am sure Ship Spotting can stop this!

Jens Boldt says he has no problems with his Mac.  I am running a Mac OS X 10.9.4 and Safari 7.0.5 and I have!

Shipping News and information / Re: Grenaa Star beached

Newspaper report:

"A spokesman for Northumbria Police said a 53-year-old man has since been arrested by police on suspicion of being a "master, pilot or seaman unfit through drink".

As I understand, it is not certain whether it was the skipper or one of the crew.

Help and Advice / Re: IMO
« on: December 09, 2013, 04:50:18 PM »
Thank you for the swift response davidships and Ken Smith.

I did, initially, copy and paste the number and, as that didn't work, it was typed in the end.

Anyway, all sorted and the IMO number in place!

Help and Advice / Re: Search facility on Marine Traffic website

On a personal note I thought the new Marine Traffic website was atrocious.

I persevered for a few weeks, but I'd had enough.

I deleted my account with them but they've been kind enough to leave my 500 or so images in place.

Help and Advice / IMO
« on: December 09, 2013, 03:51:02 PM »
Earlier today I submitted a photograph of the PD Ports dredger "Cleveland County" but, for some reason, it will not accept the IMO number. I have tried four times to add it and each time it shows as "unavailable".

In March last year I submitted another photo of this vessel and the IMO number shows without a problem.

Any ideas or suggestions here?

Shipping News and information / BRIGHT OCEAN tragedy.

Sadly, a tragedy occurred on board the "Bright Ocean" as she was berthed at Irvine's Quay in Hartlepool last night (Sunday, September 9th).

According to the local newspaper, The Mail, a worker was killed after falling 30 feet into the ship's hold.

I echo Steve's comments about the Canon 100mm-400mm lens. I've had mine for about three years and it is ideal for what I use it for.

Just browse through my own photographs of ships coming, and going, to Hartlepool and the results can clearly be seen.

Just for the record I am using a Canon 1000D camera.

Help and Advice / Re: MMSI or IMO Numbers for Military Vessels
« on: June 02, 2011, 03:47:55 PM »
Hi Phil,

The information on the IMO number was listed on the PD Port site:

http://www.pdports.co.uk/teesport/shippingreports/SR-02-ShipsInPort.asp

Of course, the 'Ships in Port' link will be out of date by June 7th when she sails.

I've read this thread, with interest, because just this morning we had the British naval vessel "HMS Hurworth" arrive in Hartlepool with the IMO number of 84.

When I tried to add this number to my posting it wasn't accepted, of course, because IMO numbers must have seven digits.
