P.S.

How about for the fishing vessels prefixes?

Hi,

good thing to bring more structure to the pennant number. Now one step up. Where the letter in the pennant number stand for a certain category of ships, wouldn't it be wise to have a a separate field for the letter and one for the number. This way it then would be possible that once the letter is put in the letter field, autamatically the photo will be classified to the right category?

Another request of mine of old date. Could the same be made for the inland vessel "EU number/ENI number"?

Help and Advice / Re: Best Photo Locations

Hi,

IJmuiden would indeed be the best place if you have little time. Here all ships pass the locks to all destinations beyond this point. Some lie before the Amsterdam port so you would miss those. The Amsterdam port is only accessible if you know your way around and have a car.

Go here: http://www.portofamsterdam.nl/smartsite139.dws the day before you fly, to get an impression on expected ships, departure and arrivals at the time you plan to be in IJmuiden and decide if it

I wouldn't be surprised if this forum is most valued by psychologists for it's interactions .

Hi Henrik,

thanks for the update. However a layout of the plan/priority list would be nice.
As I said i believe it will keep us from complaining on whenever this or that will be "finally" implemented.
I'm aware you're doing a tramendous job, but maybe that's just me.
For sure when step one is delaied, so will be the next.
Keeping us posted more frequently will save a lot of frustration and keep people with us.

Thanks again,

Ed

Here's a photo of the ferry of Nieuwer ter AA, I made on the 18th of august.
The skipper might be the person behind the window pane. I'm not sure if there was
more than one operating it.
Although sad, it's a good thing they found him soon.

The Amsterdam-Rhine canal is one of the most busy canals. An inland cargo highway so to speak.

well that's good news.
A forum topic for requests and suggestions a good thing. Put the list of 100 features to implement on top to prevent doubles....

The authorities acted very well. Venomous or not the spiders could mean a real threat to other species on the foreign land they invade, especially in the case of an island.

Help and Advice / Re: deletions - locked topic

Hi all, back from France in one piece, as the most of the rain past us by (still a great deal but no damage) for the rest it was a very memorable holiday, you'll notice in a while. Derek, good to see you survived the nurses :-).

So Back to the topic. I agree where help is needed rather than deleting a good pic, that's preferable. Good point.

About Quality not Quantity? True. But how did we all start? And isn't it, that falling flat on your face ( equivalent of deletion) makes you get up again and learn and try again.
Said often before, do we all have the same budged for top quality equipment?

And moreover, is this a photographing site only or a SHIPSPOTTING site where the mention of date and place of a ship sighting is as important as the photo of it? Keeping a less quality photo to yourself would be keeping info of the sighting to yourself as well.

Hi all,

Good idea Anton about that Wiki.
I recently came across an example of it at http://www.marinetraffic.com a Greek Free of charge AIS site. Have a look at this and see what a Wiki is like integrated here at the bottom of this page http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/shipdetails.aspx?mmsi=245529000&header=true
to be able to adjust the wiki you need to register and login. I'm just wondering if any alterations made by one can be changed by another. Or maybe is there a moderator in between to verify new data?
