Shipping News and information / CCGS Tracy on sale?
« on: August 29, 2013, 05:02:19 PM »
I learned that sailing days of the CCGS Tracy are over.  The ship is currently tied up at Precott Ontario waiting, probably to going to be on sale soon. It's weird, because it ad a major refit few year ago at Verreault ship yard.  We will miss this regular ship that we saw so often on the St-Laurence River.

Shipping News and information / Canadian coast fleet action in 2013
« on: January 29, 2013, 01:43:39 AM »
What is happening this winter with the coast guard icebreaker? Compare to usuall movement of the past year, this winter is a bit different. I know ccgs Amundsen is going a refit so it is replace by the Terry Fox.  But since the last couple days, the Fox is working in the Quebec area while the light icebreaker Martha L. Black is more in the Gulf of St-Laurent. In addtion, today the Henry Larsen came to help the Terry Fox assisting ship under the Quebec bridges. Meanwhile, in tree River, where ice condition are usually easier, there is 2 medium icebreaker standing by. Some shipspotter said that the Des Groseilliers is having mechanical problem. I wrote to the coast-guard spoke person and they said the reason is just to give better services to navigation.

Anyone as information about all these activities?
