Shipping News and information / Icebreakers Kept Busy
« on: April 06, 2007, 11:49:36 PM »
Heard on the local news station here, that the icebreakers are busy on the Northwest coast and Northeast coast of Newfoundland, the ice is down from the North and is pinned on the land.
The Coast guard in Newfoundland has a loan of the Des Groseilliers from Quebec and the Sir William Alexander from Nova Scotia and this is in addition to the Henry Larsen, Ann Harvey and George R. Pearkes.
Local ferries are not able to operate, fishing boats are not able to get out of port, and sealers are not able to get out, and then there are the freighters and tankers trying to get to Botwood and Lewisporte, as well as the Apollo trying to operate from St. Barbe and Blanc Sablon. The Coast Guard said on Vocm.com, that it took a day for one of the icebreakers to move one mile.

« on: February 09, 2007, 01:12:20 AM »
Hi all,

Just wondering if someone can provide me an update. The Newfoundland Otter was owned by a local fishing company in Newfoundland, but her Canadian Registry was closed Jan 30, 2007.
Does anyone have any information on her. Where is she? Where is she registered now? Who owns her?

Thanks very much

Shipping News and information / Pictures getting updated by someone else
« on: August 19, 2006, 12:01:20 AM »
I posted three pictures this eveing of the cable layer Discovery and already they have been updated by someone else, some else who has no right is doing anything like it to someone else's photo's. If a name is wrong, why don't a comment be made and the person who owns the photo, who took the photo make the change. This is happening way too much and I'm am really getting upset about it, to the point where I am considering not posting anymore photo's and that is too bad, because this site is the best.

Can something be done to prevent this?

Thanks

The Canadian Coast Guard Icebreaker arrived in St.John's for refit, she has been in lay-up in Dartmouth for quite a while.
The Provo Wallis is also in St. John's where she has undergone a refit.
Are there any other Canadian Coast Guard ships in refit?

Thanks
