Help and Advice / Digital zoom vs optical zoom

Hi Forum,

I'm looking to change my camera but can't get my head around Optical Zoom and Digital Zoom.

As an example, a camera with an Optical zoom of 60 and a Digital zoom of 4. It doesn't make sense to me.

I've logged in and went to Photo Search but upon clicking on the button for All Photographers, the drop down list of names does not appear.
Maybe it is my out-of-date browser but wondered if anyone else had experienced this.

Hi Forum,

Does anyone know if there's a cargo vessel/oil tanker as a museum exhibit anywhere within the UK?

Have googled this but came up with nothing.

I know of the Liberty ship in Piraeus but as you know she's no oil tanker.

Whatever happened to the vessel TITAN URANUS? I saw a photo of her back end on the web once but there doesn't seem to be any record of her anywhere on the internet ? If she was struck off surely there'd be something to refer to.

Hi admin,

I've been getting the following error message while trying to upload photo's.     "ajax o;"

Never seen that before.
It's happened with three photo's but now seems to be working again.

Hi Forum,

I was wondering about ship spotting locations in the US, particularly military vessels and places where if I was to visit, I wouldn't be deemed
a threat to National Security.

Hampton Roads seems to be a key area, a fair bit of military traffic on the move but what/where is the biggest Naval collection of (floating) hardware to be found?

Hi All,

I've been clearing out/throwing away all my old photo's but came across my very first but old digital camera I bought in 2001. It's a Fujifilm Finepix 1300. It used a Smartmedia card, still in the camera too, but how do I go about looking at what's on the card ? It's large & incredibly flimsy.
I'm sure I have some old ship photo's on it but can't find any equipment that is compatible.

I spotted this heavy lift vessel transiting through the Gibraltar Strait on 9th Nov 2017. She's carrying a couple of rigs. Just wondering if anyone had any info on her and where she was headed.

Hi all,

Well, I've just recently come back from Gib and wondered how the the tax situation applies re: bunkering tax (or lack of). But how does it work exactly? If no tax on the fuel is payable, how does the government claw back money? Surely the fuel still needs to be shipped in from somewhere. I didn't see any refineries on Gib itself - only the one in Spain.
