Ste-Catharines shipyard has been awarded a 21$ millions contract to refit the destroyer Hmcs Athabascan. The refit will begin in april 2012 up to november 2012.  It will be nice to have a destroyer in the area, I think we haven't seen one since the 90's

Interesting news when reading to an 2009 article from a Sorel Tracy newspaper. It is said that the city have an eyes on puchasing Hmcs Iroquois, which was build in Sorel in early 70's, to make it a museum:

Today is a big day for Davie shipyard of Levis. The was acquired by Upper Lakes shipbuilding of St-Catherine, Ontario, today and at the same time, giving them a double opportunity to bid on gouvernment  35G$ contracts for fleet renewal. Davie yard is now safe from bankruptcy ans will be able to continue their activities. 
Let's hope this time everything will work for them!
