Help and Advice / IMO number confusion
« on: April 02, 2017, 09:34:36 PM »
Hi all!

Today I came upon this ship:

http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/search.php?search_imo=8033807

A tanker, built in 1973, names Charlotte F and Paradox, status: dead

Investigating a little further into Charlotte F's life I came upon

https://www.binnenvaart.eu/motortankschip/1234-paradox.html

So she received a new bow-section and mid-section in 1999 at Oltenita (yard no. 606) in Romania and is still happily sailing the Seven Seas...

I searched for photos of her after her 1999-refit and found these:

http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/search.php?search_imo=9215024

And now I have two IMO-numbers for the same ship...

This would make sense if she had received a new aft-section at Oltenita in 1999.
But with a new bow-section, mid-section AND aft-section this would be a new-building.
Both 8033807 and 9215024 are valid IMO-numbers. Equasis only knows the latter.

DNV/GL where IMO 9215024 is classed states that the ship was built at Oltenita in 1999 (yard no. 606, just as it says on Binnenvaart.eu).
http://vesselregister.dnvgl.com/vesselregister/vesseldetails.html?vesselid=30933

Looking at Charlotte F and Jacoba-H bow and mid-section are clearly different. The aft-section shows only little differences (anchor arrangement and only one anchor aft with Jacoba-H, but two with Charlotte F).

Is someone able to shed some light on this?

Cheers
Jens

Help and Advice / Which one is it?
« on: January 05, 2017, 09:19:38 AM »
Hi all,

I came across some photos of a research & survey vessel called "Altair", but found different IMO numbers with different members' photos.

http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=2510808

This one was built in 1962 in Germany and foundered last year (according to Miramar).

http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=477245

Also built in 1962, but in the USA...

Can someone advise me which is the correct IMO number for this one?

Cheers,
Jens

Help and Advice / CHIEFTAIN - but which?
« on: December 04, 2016, 01:22:38 PM »
Hi all,

can anyone help with some data (possibly an IMO number) for this one:
http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=19958#

Is this the later converted 1930's Chieftain, IMO 5070127?

I can't tell from the photos I found around here...

Cheers,
Jens

Help and Advice / Help needed with ship's data

Hi all,

is someone able to shed some light on this one?

http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=1415122#

I've tried Miramar and searched Shipspotting.com for a ship named "Enterprise". I found no other matching photo here under that name and Miramar offers 92 results, though none that would match a general cargo ship of that size built in the 1990s...

Cheers,
Jens

CCNI ARAUCO (IMO 9683843) is on fire at Container Terminal Burchardkai at Hamburg harbour.

While welding a container at the aft of the ship a small explosion occurred which caused a fire. The fire was reported to have spread below deck. Three workers wer injured and taken to hospital.

The fire brigade is trying to close the burning cargo hold which is below the water line.
CCNI Arauco is loaded with 12,000 t of dangerous goods, but according to the fire brigade these are not in reach of the fire.

150 rescue workers are on the scene, four fire truck, two fire fighting vessels and a police helicopter. Access to the terminal has been closed.

Help and Advice / RITSKE - a cement carrier?
« on: January 06, 2016, 06:33:58 PM »
Hi all,

came across Ritske (IMO 8913473) today (see the link below for a sample photo)
http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=2262834

Miramar says that in 2005 this one was converted from cargo to cement carrier, but she still looks like a cargo ship to me.

Can anyone enlighten me about this?

kind regards,
Jens

Help and Advice / Need some help with identifying ships
« on: December 27, 2015, 06:01:50 PM »
Hi all,

I've bookmarked some photos over the last three months where I can't identify the ships.
Your help is much appreciated!

I only found Cast Prosperity IMO 9313199 which obviously isn't the right one:
http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=83957

Golden King, can't find a match for this one:
http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=1319908#

No match for RCL Baron:
http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=499

Not quite suitable for the containership-category but maybe someone knows the dredger (if it is one)?
http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=123398#

Definitely not Anna Maersk IMO 9260421, but the others I found don't seem to fit either (comparing the accommodation):
http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=30932

Kind regards,
Jens

Help and Advice / NOVA - On the hunt for another IMO
« on: August 22, 2015, 08:17:48 PM »
Hi all,

does anyone know the correct IMO for this one?

http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=75739

And yes, I searched Miramar this time (just tonight I renewed my subscription), but for the results that seemed the most likely candidates there are no photos here to compare...

kind regards,
Jens

Help and Advice / MV HAUGE??? Help needed
« on: August 04, 2015, 06:25:36 PM »
Hi all,

I found these to photos in the database

http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=387587
http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=387584

I found no other ship with that name here and Equasis also doesn't know a ship called Hauge.

Could this be Cpl. Louis J. Hauge Jr. (T-AK 3000) of the US Military Sealift Command, former Estelle Maersk (according to Wikipedia)?

Cheers,
Jens

Yesterday evening shortly after she left Hamburg harbor NYK OLYMPUS (IMO 9312987) suffered a blackout and had to drop anchor. Two tugs hurried to assist her as she was hampering the departure of MSC Splendida. NYK OLYMPUS was towed to a provisional berth near the Airbus premises.

Today in the early afternoon she left the berth with assistance of tugs ZP Bulldog and ZP Boxer. She sailed to Parkhafen, turned, the tugs left and she seemed to finally leave Hamburg.

When she reached the Airbus premises she stopped again thus blocking the way of tanker Amorina (inbound) and container ship Voronezh (outbound), the two tugs again hurried to assist her and she was once more berthed at the Airbus premises. I don't know if she had another blackout this afternoon as right now she's underway near Cuxhaven on her way to Le Havre...

Cheers,
Jens
