Title: Reporting errors
Post by: csaba on October 02, 2021, 05:23:44 AM
Browsing through old photos on this site, I have encountered photos that are either posted twice or sub standard. I sent a report but  quite a while later the photos are still there.
Were these reports not received or members are not allowed to send this kind of reports while only admins are allowed to notice irregularities?

It's quite right that only admins make the decisions about photographs, otherwise it becomes a free for all with members, perhaps with a grudge because some of their photographs have been deleted, trying to get other members photographs deleted. It is frustrating when your photographs are deleted, and other photographs of a lesser standard remain on the site, but many of the older photographs were taken when equipment and photo editing software wasn't as good as it is now, and they met the standards of the time. Duplicates there is perhaps a case for reporting to admins.

Thank you, csaba, for expressing your concern. Simonwp has it about right.

Not only wasn't technical side anything like what can be done today by even the average photographer, but our Site Standards have also changed over time, and our present policy is that we do not normally revisit past submissions that are presumed to have been considered acceptable at the time.

But that said duplicate images should certainly be reviewed, and we are on the lookout for them.  In past there have been times when the notification links have not worked properly, though I think that they do at present.  If there are still some of concern, please send me details via PM or email to [email protected]
