Title: Mushroom anchor

Hello there,

Are there any vessels other than the PHAROS light-vessel that used/uses the mushroom anchor? I believe they range from between several pounds, up to several tons.
Or is it just a case that there are more 'practicable' anchors available on the market.

Hi Mattyboy,
Mushroom anchors are normally used for vessels "permanently" at anchor, such as Light-vessels.
They have a good holding power in silt.

Almost always used to anchor buoys, as stated above the holding power is very good in silting areas
and they dig themself in over time. Heard that after years sometimes to remove buoys or change them it is very hard to get them out of the ground.
