DENMARK's Maersk Line has announced it will add two new 13,092-TEU containerships, the Maersk Edmonton and the Maersk Erving, to its Asia-Europe AE-7 service in February and in March to replace the two 9,500-TEU class Maersk Algol and Gjertrud Maersk, reports Alphaliner. The AE-7 service, which was initially introduced, envisioning eight 15,200-TEU E-class vessels in 2007-2008, which was Maersk's highest-capacity string with a capacity of 14,070 TEU per week. But it also faced stiff competition against MSC's "Silk" service that provides 13,926 TEU a week.
With these two upgraded vessels on the AE-7 loop, it will provide an average capacity of 14,778 TEU starting from March.
Two 7,500-TEU ships chartered from Hanjin, the Hanjin Yantian and Hanjin Dallas, will offer two lower capacity sailings in February after Chinese New Year to meet the expected fall in demand at that time.

Currently GJERTRUD MAERSK and MAERSK ALGOL sailing on the AE7 service as additional vessels, however due to their size they will be replaced by those new Maersk E- newbuildings soon. GJERTRUD MAERSK will transfer to AE6 (Med-Asia-USWC vv) and MAERSK ALGOL will transfer to a Trans Pacific service.
Phase in/phase out will be combined with the dry docking plans. First one will be the EMMA MAERSK, going into the dry dock next month in/near Hong Kong. Other E-classes will follow one by one.
Due to the Chinese New Year, all AE7/AE8 vessels sailing slowly towards Asia, creating a gap of 2 weeks for the missing sailings; which will be combined with 2 7000 TEU vessels HANJIN YANTIAN (Chartered) and MAERSK KARLSKRONA, so, shipspotters be quick...

Excellent, I do like this new breed of vessel, looks rather splendid in sky blue I think, I'm not at work for the first, hope it slips by a day, the second a night shift, hopefully bag some pictures of both from the Port side.
Best

Sorry to disappoint you, MAERSK ERVING is a Zodiac Ship with a plain black hull...

Maersk Edmonton at Felixstowe right now, weather sunny and set to sail at 17:15, though crane delays might push that back, however at this moment in time we are on tine with 384 boxes to go and planned finish of 16:15 to release the vessel for the 17:15 departure slot.
HTH
