Solidarity with fishermen! :-)

Solidarity with fishermen!
Why? Should we give some fishermen extra cash handouts if they can't compete with other fishermen?
Or should taxpayers give discounted fuel to one particular subset of people who can't cope with market conditions?
Boo hoo. They should get used to paying a fair price for fuel.

Fuel oil prices are going up everywhere, so a big strike/blockade will only delay the inevitable and only serve to irritate. We all have to face reality, oil is getting scarce, the fish are getting scarce, maybe the fish stocks will get a chance to replenish if there are less fishing boats on the seas?

The WWF and Greenpeace claimed a highly overfishing rate of the red tuna in the Mediterranean, caused by french and spanish fishermen.
So, why should there be solidarity with fishermen?
The higher the price for the fuel, the more fishingvessels have to stay in port.

Hello,
why the marine fishers should stop their profession under pretext that fuel is expensive?
why stop not the ships of cruise? it is true that the price of a trawler and a ship of cruise is not the same!!!!!

When Cruise ships can't afford fuel they will have to stop cruising. Currently the older cruise ships are being broken up at Alang in India because there are too many of them e.g. the famous ship France is one of them.
I have sympathy for people losing their livelihoods but if we look back a few years the Cod fishermen in the UK had to give up their jobs, different reasons but same end result.
Alternatively sail could be used for propulsion, not beyond the realms of probability.

Hi All
Typical bloody Gallic reaction - if they don't like anything they go on strike and screw up as many others as they can.
Get real, the oil price affects everyone.
