Title: WooHooo!!!!! Record early opening for Welland Canal

The Saint Lawrence Seaway has announced that the Welland Canal, the connector between Lakes Ontario and Erie, will open at 8am local time on March 20, 2007,  a record early opening date.  The Montreal to Lake Ontario segment of the Saint Lawrence Seaway will open at 0800 local time, March 21, 2007.

For those of us in interior North America who are dependent upon the photography of ships for our mental health and general well being, it will be a great relief to have the Great Lakes open to shipping, both lakers and salties.
